Workday MCP: what exists, and what it means for recruiting
The short answer
Workday has no single “Workday MCP server” for recruiting. Its MCP access to HR and finance data comes through Agent-Ready Tools, announced on 2 June 2026. They are in early access through Workday Extend Professional, with general availability projected for the second half of 2026. Workday says they work over MCP with Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot and custom agents, scoped to each user’s identity. Third-party agents connect through Workday’s Agent Gateway and are registered in its Agent System of Record. Workday doesn’t publish which recruiting actions are available over MCP. Separately, Workday Adaptive Planning has an MCP server for planning data, in production from 16 October 2026.
Every Workday detail comes from Workday’s own documentation, read on 1 October 2026. Beatview is not affiliated with Workday.
Workday MCP at a glance
| What the documentation says | |
|---|---|
| MCP for HR and finance | Agent-Ready Tools: early access through Workday Extend Professional since June 2026; general availability projected for the second half of 2026 |
| AI tools named | Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot and custom orchestrators |
| How agents connect | Third-party agents reach Workday data through Agent Gateway and are registered in the Agent System of Record (ASOR) |
| Identity | Agents use Agent System User accounts. Workday says Agent-Ready Tools are scoped to the end user’s identity, with extra safeguards on sensitive actions |
| Recruiting over MCP | Not documented. Workday publishes no list of recruiting actions available over MCP |
| Workday’s recruiting agent | Recruiting Agent (HiredScore) is generally available with the HiredScore AI for Talent SKU; Workday says HiredScore agents are not part of ASOR |
| Self-Service Agent | External assistants such as Gemini Enterprise reach it through the Agent2Agent (A2A) protocol rather than MCP |
| Adaptive Planning MCP Server | Planning data only: preview from 15 August 2026, production from 16 October 2026 |
| Cost and contracts | Agent usage counts against Workday Flex Credits; ASOR needs no extra SKU, but production use of Workday-built agents needs the Universal Main Service Agreement |
How an outside agent connects to Workday
Workday’s documentation describes this path for external agents. The MCP endpoint details for Agent-Ready Tools are not public, so expect your Workday account team to be involved.
- 01
Step 01
Get access
Agent-Ready Tools are in early access through Workday Extend Professional. Ask your Workday account team about eligibility. - 02
Step 02
Set up the Agent System of Record
ASOR is Workday’s central register for agents. Workday says it needs no extra SKU. - 03
Step 03
Register and configure the agent
Register the external agent, choose the skills it may use and the security groups allowed to use it. - 04
Step 04
Activate it and sign in
Activating the agent creates its Agent System User. The agent then works through Agent Gateway, within Workday’s security model and audit trail.
Workday MCP limits and controls
Limits to know
- Agent-Ready Tools are early access only; general availability is projected, not announced.
- Workday doesn’t publish which recruiting operations, such as requisitions, candidates or offers, are available over MCP.
- HiredScore agents, including the Recruiting Agent, sit outside the Agent System of Record.
- Workday’s own Self-Service Agent connects to outside assistants through A2A, not MCP.
- The Adaptive Planning MCP server covers planning data, not recruiting.
Security model
- Workday says agents inherit its security and delegation model, business process controls and audit trail.
- Agent-Ready Tools are scoped to the end user’s identity, with extra safeguards on sensitive HR and finance actions.
- Skills are limited to the security groups you choose, and agents use their own Agent System User accounts.
- All third-party agent traffic goes through Agent Gateway.
Workday holds the employee record. Beatview brings screening to your assistant.
Beatview’s MCP server works today, on every plan including Free, and needs no Workday early-access programme. It connects Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and Cursor to Beatview, where every applicant is scored against your criteria with the reasons shown and interviewed with structured AI video questions. Your assistant can compare candidates and send interview invitations while Workday stays your system of record.
One address
Add https://platform.beatview.ai/mcp to Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Cursor, next to Workday. It is included on every Beatview plan, including Free.
Evidence, not just records
Beatview returns each applicant’s resume match score with reasons and a structured AI interview assessed answer by answer.
You stay in charge
The assistant confirms with you before moving a candidate or sending an interview invitation, and recordings never leave Beatview.
Try with Beatview connected
- “Who are the strongest applicants for the Finance Analyst role, by interview score?”
- “Compare the top three candidates who finished the interview, strongest first.”
- “Is the Operations Manager role ready to take applicants? Check the interview and automations.”
Workday MCP: frequently asked questions
Still deciding?
Bring a live vacancy and we’ll walk through where automation ends and recruiter review begins.
Partly. Workday’s Agent-Ready Tools give agents access to HR and finance data over MCP, in early access through Workday Extend Professional since June 2026, with general availability projected for the second half of 2026. Workday Adaptive Planning has its own MCP server for planning data, in production from 16 October 2026.
Workday says Agent-Ready Tools work over MCP with Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot and custom agents. It doesn’t publish which recruiting actions are included, and access is through its early-access programme, so ask your Workday account team.
Agent Gateway is the route third-party agents use to reach Workday data. Agents are registered in Workday’s Agent System of Record, use their own Agent System User accounts and work within Workday’s security model and audit trail.
Not that Workday documents. The Recruiting Agent, from HiredScore, is generally available with the HiredScore AI for Talent SKU, and Workday’s documentation says HiredScore agents are not part of the Agent System of Record.
Workday doesn’t publish prices. Agent-Ready Tools come through Workday Extend Professional, and agent usage counts against Workday Flex Credits.
Yes. Workday stays your system of record, and Beatview handles screening and AI interviews alongside it. Beatview’s MCP server lets your assistant work with screened and interviewed candidates today, on every Beatview plan including Free.
